Location 1100 GLENWOOD AVE,Minneapolis, MN, 55405-1430,United States Base Pay $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 / Year Employee Type FT Exempt Required Degree High school Description The Senior A ccountant i s responsible for performing financial reporting and analysis in accordance with GAAP . The Senior Accountant prepares , review s , and analyz e s journal entries and schedules to support timely and accurate financial reporting . The Senior Accountant prepare s monthly reconciliations and assists the Controller with drafting financial statements. Additionally, the Senior Accounting p erforms financial statement analysis, process improvement, audit functions, and contributes to various financial projects . Must have a m inimum of 3-5 years of experience with a combination of public accounting and /or nonprofit and/or healthcare accounting . The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller/Finance Director and works closely with the other finance team members to achieve organizational objectives . The Senior Accountant will : P repare and post monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc journal entries , maintaining appropriate schedules and support. Maintain various account reconciliation schedules and analyze them for accuracy and consistency; complete adjusting entries as needed . Monitor and account for assigned grant / contract portfolio, providing support from budget to desk audits to final claim submission s . Handle all financial reporting data with quality and determine proper accounting treatment for transactions based on accounting principles . Support monthly report preparation and disbursement. Prepare interim and year-end schedules for audits, single audits, and 990, as well as other filings or evaluation engagements with external parties. Document and enhance processes and procedures to facilitate accurate and timely financial information. Complete special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned . Work closely with other departments and business units regarding accounting activities. Support team efforts and build authentic relationships with individuals in work groups and teams. Consistently demonstrate and live Washburn’s cultural tenets and values. Participate in the agency’s activities to connect regularly with others. Teamwork and Collaboration – The S enior Accountant is expected to work as part of the Finance team as well as collaborate with teams across the agency, including: Attend and participate in Finance , Billing, Payroll, and other agency meetings as necessary S upport and s erve as a backup for the Accounting Associate Perform team projects as needed Professional Development – Each staff member at Washburn Center is responsible for their own professional development. The Senior Accountant will: Stay up-to-date on current accounting and finance trends and best practices through various forms of training and information source. Monitor goals to ensure performance management framework compliance Requirements A bachelor's degree is required (Finance, Accounting, or a related field) Familiarity with nonprofit governance processes is preferred CPA or MBA strongly preferred Experience working with the Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) is required Knowledge and experience with monthly accounting cycles and procedures is required E xtensive experience in monthly financial rep orting, and year- end audit prep is required Knowledge in grant management and administration is preferred Experience mental health, or health services organizations is strongly preferred Deep nonprofit finance knowledge, including nonprofit monthly cycles is required #J-18808-Ljbffr Kids for the Future
