Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

As a CNC Machinist, you will set up, operate, and maintain CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components in a production environment, performing minor program adjustments, ensuring consistent quality, and supporting a collaborative manufacturing team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce machined parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Perform machine setups and minor CNC program modifications.
• Conduct in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
• Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on CNC equipment.
• Verify compliance with GD&T and production specifications.
• Maintain machines and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and quality goals.
• Follow all shop safety procedures and operating standards.

Required Skills:

• CNC mill and/or lathe operation experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and production drawings.
• Experience with machine setups and production runs.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Experience performing quality inspections.
• Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring tools.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, drills, end mills, inserts, and taps.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of CNC machining experience or a related technical degree.
• Experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with both milling and turning operations.
• Ability to make minor CNC programming changes.
• Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
• Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training.

Work Environment:

• Machine shop setting with CNC mills, lathes, and machining equipment.
• Regular use of precision measuring instruments and cutting tools.
• Exposure to machine noise and moving mechanical parts.
• PPE and shop attire required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
