Position Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. Schedule This position will be working 0.7 FTE (56 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the night (11pm-7:30am) shift. This position will also work a rotation for every other weekend. About This Department The 13-bed facility offers a unique environment, including single and double rooms, to cater to a diverse patient population. Care for children and adolescents aged 10-18. Our unit is not only a place of healing, but also a fun and vibrant environment. Staff engage and play with young patients, fostering camaraderie and support. Responsibilities Utilizing a systematic process to assess the physical and mental health needs of the patient, which will provide a framework from which patient care is planned Administering medications used for the management of behavioral patients with knowledge of actions, contraindications, side effects and desired outcomes Evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing interventions in meeting the identified emotional, psychological and physical needs, making revisions based on these outcomes Monitoring and maintaining a therapeutic environment through active involvement and demonstrated response to change in patient behavior Assessing patients on ongoing basis for risk of violence Uses therapeutic communication skills and follows the parameters of the therapeutic relationship Required Qualifications Current MN License Basic Life Support (BLS) 1 year of Mental Health experience (preferred in the last 5 years) Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) 1 year of Mental Health experience in the last 3 years.
