Job Description Library Technician 1, UNLV University Libraries, [R0152613] Role of the Position Position scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm; subject to change based on organizational needs. Primary responsibilities involve assisting library users at the Lied Library’s Circulation Service Desk and supporting circulation services in three branch library locations (Teacher Development and Resources, Architecture Studies, and Music). Key duties include: Providing courteous and professional service to patrons, resolving issues, checking out materials, explaining policies, answering questions, and making referrals. Resolving library borrowing account issues, including handling overdue items and coordinating with contracted collection agencies. Adjusting financial obligations on a case‑by‑case basis under supervision. Granting, altering, or removing library access for various user groups and managing holds through the MyUNLV system. Minimum Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent education and two years of customer service experience in a library or related cultural heritage institution; or one year as Library Assistant III in Nevada State service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing financial responsibilities. Experience with billing and item recovery. Experience working with a library management system such as Ex Libris Alma. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel), Google products (Docs/Sheets/Gmail). Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting. Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Salary Grade 27 Step 1, salary $47,126.16.
