Job Category Peer Support/Advocacy/Mentor Requisition Number FAMIL001727 Full-Time Locations Showing 1 location Description *$1,000 Hiring Bonus, Additional $1,500 Spanish Speaking Bonus* Education & Experience All Family Partners will meet the following qualifications: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required Experience as a parent or caregiver of a child with a serious emotional disturbance receiving, or having previously received, services within the public systems, including mental health, child welfare, or juvenile justice required Basic knowledge of Public Mental Health, Child Welfare and Education systems, and the ability to advocate on behalf of clients in navigating and negotiating those systems Previous experience with advocacy, outreach, and community resources, preferred Spanish Speaking, preferred Family Partner I Meets minimum qualification listed above. Family Partner II Meets all minimum qualifications for Family Partner I and meets both of the following: Has obtained Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Has a minimum of 1 year experience as a Family Partner Family Partner III Meets all qualifications for Family Partner II and meets both of the following: Consistently demonstrates a high level of proficiency in the role Has a minimum of 2 years experience as a Peer Advocate Family Partner I & II Program Intake – participate at some level in the client intake process, ensuring that family members are aware of how to access advocacy and support services from Family Partners. Coaching and mentoring – coach and educate families (parents, caregivers, and youth) to acquire greater communication, system navigation, and self-regulation skills that are geared to help them take more effective advantage of treatment while assuring that their personal goals and outcomes are met. Outreach – participate in CFT (Child and Family Team) meetings in family homes or in the community, assessing strengths and challenges, providing parenting support, informing them about services, and linking them to community resources. Mutual Support and Education Groups – offer ongoing education and support groups that bring families with similar challenges together, providing tools to successfully cope with parenting challenges. Participation in Family and Youth Partnership Wellness and Position Specific Group – peer‑to‑peer connection points that provide opportunities for partnership, problem solving, and community, and mandatory for those with lived experience to address compassion fatigue and barriers. Participation in Agency Wide Program Meetings, Family Team Meetings and Management Decisions – the voice and perspective of families is crucial to agency decision‑making, program development, and treatment planning. Staff Consultation and Training – provide ongoing feedback and training to staff on the importance of a family’s voice and choice and cultural sensitivity. Participation in the Hiring Process – participate in the interview process for potential employees, providing an assessment of a candidate’s ability, skill, and inclination to provide services that are sensitive to family voice and choice issues. Community Advocacy – may participate in community trainings, workgroups, planning committees, client treatment reviews, and task forces related to children’s mental health, advocacy, and policy development. Grievance and Complaint support – assist parents, caregivers, and youth with the grievance and complaint process, including mentoring and technical assistance with forms. Collateral Support – individual requests to provide collateral support to caregivers and parents are assigned to the Family Partner by the Family Partner Manager. Family Partner III Performs essential job functions of a Family Partner I/II along with: Coaching and mentoring of internal staff – coach and educate other team members to develop skills in alignment with agency culture and practices. Attends Leadership meetings as requested. Participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of program initiatives, team engagement, and professional culture. Facilitates Trainings and FYP Initiatives, as directed by leadership. Agency Specific Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the principles and values of the agency, while adhering to applicable professional codes of ethics, agency policies and procedures, and County Mental Health Plan regulations. Models and communicates appropriate positive attitudes toward the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Works collaboratively with all agency programs and staff to provide support as needed. Utilizes and maintains Microsoft Outlook calendar to manage time effectively and share calendar information with coworkers. Participates in ongoing training to expand and develop professional skills. Performs other duties as necessary for the agency, as assigned. Compensation This position may be filled at any level listed in this posting. Level determination is based on the role’s minimum qualifications and the candidate’s directly relevant experience and scope of responsibility. The posted salary bands represent the full pay range for each role and reflect opportunities for compensation growth over time. The typical hiring ranges reflect where the agency reasonably expects to make offers to new hires based on relevant experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Level I Typical hiring range: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour Full salary band: $22.00 – $32.00 per hour Level II Typical hiring range: $24.00 – $28.00 per hour Full salary band: $24.00 – $34.00 per hour Level III Typical hiring range: $26.00 – $31.00 per hour Full salary band: $26.00 – $36.00 per hour Compensation offers are made through our established compensation framework to promote fairness, consistency, and internal equity.
