Area Human Resources Manager

Colwen Hotels is looking for a dynamic and people-focused Area Human Resources Manager to join our growing team. This role will serve as a key HR partner to multiple hotels in the Portland, ME area, providing leadership and support in talent acquisition, associate engagement, employee relations, compliance, and leadership development. Reporting directly to the Corporate Director of Human Resources, this position will partner closely with General Managers and hotel leadership teams across assigned properties, serving as a key advisor on all human resources matters while helping drive talent strategy, operational excellence, and a positive associate experience. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-unit hospitality environment , partnering closely with operational leaders, and making a meaningful impact on associate engagement, talent development, and organizational performance. Regular travel and on-site property visits are an important component of this role to ensure strong HR partnership and support across the hotels. Key Responsibilities Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Partner with hotel leadership to attract, recruit, and onboard top hospitality talent Support full-cycle recruitment including sourcing, interviewing, and selection Assist properties with workforce planning and succession development Associate Relations & Engagement Serve as a primary HR resource for hotel associates and managers Provide guidance on associate relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution Support initiatives that enhance associate engagement, retention, and workplace culture Benefits & HR Administration Assist associates and managers with benefits education and enrollment support Partner with corporate HR to ensure proper administration of benefit programs Ensure accurate HR documentation and record management Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws Support HR audits, policy implementation, and regulatory compliance initiatives Guide leadership teams on wage/hour practices, employee relations, and workplace policies Training & Development Deliver and support leadership training programs and professional development initiatives Partner with hotel leadership to identify training opportunities that strengthen operational performance Support onboarding and development programs for managers and supervisors Qualifications 3+ years of Human Resources experience , preferably in hospitality or a multi-unit environment Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and associate relations management Proven ability to build relationships and influence leaders at multiple levels Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability and willingness to travel regularly to assigned hotel properties Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred Why Join Colwen Hotels?
