Job Description

The Supply Chain Manager serves as the team lead overseeing multiple supply chain functions, including purchasing, demand management, and inventory planning. This role provides operational oversight, execution, and decision-making for the planning and replenishment of distribution, parts, and facility inventories. The position manages purchase order placement, contract administration, inventory allocation, and drop-ship purchasing for assigned business lines, either directly or through a team of subordinates.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and control activities related to planning, purchasing, and demand management functions.
• Lead and oversee the work of the planning, purchasing, and demand management teams to ensure effective execution of supply chain activities.
• Ensure departmental performance meets or exceeds required KPIs and continuously monitor results.
• Prepare, maintain, and update instructions and processes related to planning, purchasing, demand management, and supplier quality.
• Implement, oversee, and monitor procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
• Manage a small team across stockroom, logistics, purchasing, and scheduling functions.
• Oversee all activities related to procurement of commodities from initial intent to purchase through delivery.
• Arrange for disposal and disposition of surplus materials in accordance with company policies.
• Develop and maintain purchase order processes, including procedures for monitoring and following up on shipment dates.
• Develop and maintain expedite and late order procedures to support planned and unplanned demand.
• Oversee order acknowledgement processes, both electronic and manual, to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure effective communication among all functional groups within the organizations supply chain operations.
• Act as a subject matter expert for the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
• Coordinate efforts between departments to resolve issues and streamline supply chain processes.
• Obtain and analyze causal data to support forecast accuracy for designated business lines.
• Apply advanced technical knowledge and extensive experience in supply chain to improve material forecasting and stock plan establishment based on historical data and business intelligence.
• Define and use metrics that facilitate continuous improvement of planning processes and business results.
• Troubleshoot, resolve, and optimize supply chain processes, introducing and championing new ideas and concepts that improve efficiency and performance.
• Lead supply chain projects from initiation through completion, ensuring objectives are met.
• Maintain multiple communication channels to optimize product flow through the supply chain.
• Identify supply chain risks, capacity constraints, and improvement opportunities and develop mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with repair centers, sales, marketing, reliability, and customer support teams to maintain productive communication with customers and enhance customer service.
• Manage demand recovery by restoring or ensuring the supply of products that are critical to customer requirements and production schedules.
• Drive delivery improvement initiatives focused on the portions of the customers supply chain causing shortages.
• Implement delinquency prevention measures with internal suppliers to proactively prevent late deliveries and ensure supplier commitments meet customer need dates.
• Ensure the best possible customer on-time delivery (COTD) performance based on customer required dates, targeting greater than 90% for defined parameters.
• Conduct MRP analysis and liaise with planning, purchasing, and front office departments to manage hot lists and safety stock levels.
• Coordinate with OEMs to improve deliveries in collaboration with the procurement team.
• Ensure optimal lead times for repair shop requirements and provide accurate lead times for RFQs and sales orders.
• Update sales order promised dates based on current supply and lead-time information.
• Provide inputs and data for S&OP meetings to support informed decision-making.
• Generate clear written communication, deliver presentations, and effectively review and interpret written materials related to supply chain operations.

Essential Skills

• Strong experience in supply chain operations within distribution environments, with the ability to work independently and handle discussions on forecasting and distribution.
• Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, gather and analyze information, and resolve problems in a timely manner, both individually and in group settings.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude and the ability to understand complex supply chain processes and systems.
• Solid knowledge of ERP systems and MRP systems, including practical experience using these tools to manage planning, purchasing, and inventory.
• Understanding of supplier protocols and best practices in supplier management.
• Demonstrated history of cost savings and a strong understanding of inventory management strategies.
• General understanding of import and export rules and hazardous materials regulations.
• High level of ethical conduct and integrity in all business dealings.
• Strong communication proficiency, including clear written and verbal communication skills and effective presentation capabilities.
• Technical capacity to manage complex data, reports, and supply chain metrics.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Leadership skills with experience directing and developing a team in a supply chain environment.
• Business acumen and the ability to make sound decisions that support operational and financial objectives.
• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, or equivalent experience of approximately five years in a relevant discipline (preferred).
• At least 2 years of supply chain leadership or management experience.
• Ability to generate written communication, deliver presentations, and review written materials with attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• APICS, CPIM, or ISM certification is highly desired.
• Proven application of Six Sigma or Lean principles in a supply chain or operations environment.
• Comfort with using reporting tools.
• Experience managing cross-functional initiatives involving repair centers, sales, marketing, reliability, and customer support.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build relationships with OEMs and other key stakeholders.
• Presentation skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.

This is a Permanent position based out of Los Angeles, CA.

The pay range for this position is $118000.00 - $135000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
