Job Title Service Technician Location Multiple positions available in the Upper Midwest Region (Minneapolis, MN; Kansas City, MO; Des Moines, IA; Denver, CO; Omaha, NE; West Fargo, ND; Wichita, KS; Portland, OR) Schedule Monday – Friday 7:30AM – 4:30PM Pay Range Starting Pay will range between $25.00 – $35.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Job Overview The Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating and/or Centac and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. You will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment and must possess knowledge of operations and parts manuals for all equipment. Responsibilities In addition to performing preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed air equipment, our service technicians will interact with customers to address existing and unanticipated equipment concerns, collaborate with the Service Coordinator on ordering and gathering parts and supplies necessary to complete installations and repairs, and assist and train apprentices and fellow Field Service Technicians. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers. Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning and start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed air systems, including hands‑on work to assure equipment operates to customer requirements with limited guidance from the Master Technician. Increase customer awareness of how Ingersoll Rand products, services, and solutions—such as Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection—can benefit their operations. Requirements At least 2 years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems. Possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations, including but not limited to DUI in the previous 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions in the previous 3 years. All service technicians are required to be on‑call. For the first 90 days you will not be on‑call; thereafter, you will be available 24/7 for a 1‑week period whenever on‑call duty is assigned. This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling, as well as the ability to lift and move weights in line with safety policy. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Core Competencies Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment. Install advanced network systems (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation). Perform basic vibration troubleshooting. Address basic air quality issues (system compressor/dryer – air treatment). Operate Microsoft Office and other basic computer software; demonstrate proficiency with handheld devices (smartphone, iPad) and network basics. Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner. Preferences 2+ years of industrial air compressor maintenance and knowledge. Degree program in Electrical/Electronic Technology or HVAC with basic knowledge of AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity, controls, refrigeration systems, and/or EPA certification. Occasional travel for training—1–2 times per year for one week at a time. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
