Project Accounting Specialist

Kansas City, MO | Direct Hire | Fully Onsite Compensation: $50,000 (base salary) + company bonus program Position Summary The Project Accounting Coordinator supports construction project financial administration with a primary focus on billing. This role partners closely with project and operational stakeholders and the accounting team to ensure accurate invoicing, job costing support, and timely coordination of project documentation and compliance needs. Key Responsibilities Billing (Primary Focus) : Prepare, review, and process customer invoices in alignment with contract requirements; coordinate with internal partners to resolve billing questions and ensure timely, accurate submissions. Job Costing / Project Accounting Support : Assist with job costing activities, cost coding support, and project accounting tasks; help maintain accurate project financial records. Accounts Receivable & Project Support : Support AR-related follow-up as needed; communicate professionally with customers regarding invoicing and documentation. Compliance & Documentation : Help compile and track project documentation required for billing and compliance (e.g., supporting forms, backup, and other contract-driven requirements). Cross-Functional Coordination : Work with finance and operations partners to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and support the ongoing needs of active projects. Required Qualifications 1–3 years of related experience (construction accounting experience strongly preferred; 2+ years ideal). Exposure to job costing and/or project accounting concepts. Proactive work style with strong follow-through and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills; customer-focused mindset. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the construction industry supporting project billing and job costing. Experience with Trimble Viewpoint (Vista). Fully onsite role based in Kansas City, MO. Schedule: standard business hours (final schedule to be confirmed during the interview process). Compensation & Benefits Highlights Base salary range: $50,000–$55,000, commensurate with experience.
