Position Overview:

The Purchaser is responsible for overseeing company-wide purchasing activities, ensuring cost-effective procurement, strong vendor relationships, and accurate inventory planning. The Purchaser works closely with ownership, the Purchasing team, and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Lead purchasing activities across multiple product categories to support business operations
• Build and maintain strong vendor and distributor relationships to negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules
• Review sales and inventory data to forecast purchasing needs and ensure adequate stock levels
• Evaluate product performance and collaborate with management to adjust assortments as needed
• Issue purchase orders, confirm deliveries, and ensure accuracy in pricing and quantities
• Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth flow of goods into operations
• Reconcile invoices, resolve discrepancies, and support timely vendor payments
• Stay up to date with industry trends, pricing changes, and market availability to anticipate business needs
• Assist with the receiving process as needed by verifying incoming product counts and helping identify and resolve any discrepancies promptly
• All other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience
• Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor relations skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and purchasing/order entry software
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in alcohol, tobacco, vape, or other regulated industries
• Familiarity with logistics, inventory, and supply chain operations
• Prior experience in the C-store distribution industry (Core-Mark, US Foods, Canteen, or similar large distributors)

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Occasional lifting of product samples or files (up to 50 lbs)
• Occasional walking within office environment
• Periodic travel for vendor meetings, industry events, or training may be required
• Repetitive hand and arm movements for typing and phone work

Schedule:

• Full-time, Monday to Friday
• Standard hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility as needed based on business operations
• This position is classified as exempt, meaning you are not eligible for overtime compensation under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
