Position Overview

The Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing key customer accounts within a highly technical manufacturing environment. This position serves as a primary liaison between customers and internal teams, helping coordinate contractual requirements, pricing, production demand, scheduling, shipping requirements, and overall account performance.

The ideal candidate has experience working with aerospace, defense, metals, or industrial manufacturing customers and understands the importance of balancing customer expectations with production schedules, pricing, contractual requirements, and operational capabilities.

This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, commercial awareness, and the ability to work across Sales, Operations, Planning, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer sourcing, procurement, supply chain, and program representatives.
• Manage customer requirements including order quantities, delivery dates, shipping locations, and other contractual requirements.
• Maintain accurate customer demand information within the ERP system.
• Coordinate customer shipping requirements with internal scheduling and production teams.
• Monitor production schedules and delivery commitments to ensure alignment with customer expectations.
• Communicate schedule changes, delivery concerns, and other account-related issues to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare bids, quotations, and commercial proposals.
• Review and negotiate specifications, pricing, and contractual provisions.
• Support the preparation and administration of customer contracts and proposals.
• Review customer purchase orders and contractual requirements for accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure customers adhere to established contract terms and conditions.
• Coordinate and monitor the scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of assigned programs and accounts.
• Work with internal teams to evaluate customer requirements and develop appropriate commercial and contract strategies.
• Set up and maintain new customer account information.
• Resolve customer issues related to orders, schedules, pricing, shipping, contracts, and program requirements.
• Identify potential discrepancies or inconsistencies in customer orders, contracts, pricing, and account documentation.
• Coordinate internally with Operations, Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, and other departments.
• Monitor customer demand and communicate changes that may impact production planning or delivery schedules.
• Assist with resolving delivery, quality, technical, and contractual issues affecting customer satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate account, contract, pricing, and customer correspondence records.
• Support master planning and scheduling activities associated with assigned customer programs.
• Provide account and program updates to management as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 4+ years of related experience in sales account management, customer account management, contracts, program management, or a similar commercial role.
• Experience working within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Strong customer relationship and account-management skills.
• Experience reviewing customer purchase orders, contracts, pricing, and commercial requirements.
• Understanding of manufacturing scheduling, customer demand, and delivery requirements.
• Familiarity with standard costing concepts and manufacturing business practices.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and potential contractual issues.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and different levels of an organization.
• Ability to manage multiple customer accounts, priorities, and deadlines.
• Self-directed and comfortable working within a matrixed organization.
• Strong computer and ERP system skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within aerospace or defense manufacturing.
• Experience working with aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or other highly regulated manufacturing customers.
• Experience within forging, metals, machining, or other engineered-product manufacturing environments.
• Experience managing long-term customer accounts or manufacturing programs.
• Experience preparing bids, quotations, proposals, and contract documentation.
• Experience negotiating pricing, specifications, and commercial terms.
• Knowledge of manufacturing production planning and scheduling.
• Experience coordinating customer demand with manufacturing capacity and delivery schedules.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
• Experience with Syteline, SyteLine/Symix, or similar ERP platforms.
• Understanding of standard costing and manufacturing cost structures.
• Experience working with government, military, or defense-related contracts is a plus.
