Animal Eye Care Associates is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Veterinary Assistant to join our specialty ophthalmology team in Wake Forest, NC .

What You'll Do

As an RVT or Veterinary Assistant, you'll work closely with our doctors and team throughout appointments, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and surgical cases. Responsibilities may include:

• Safely handling and restraining patients for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
• Obtaining thorough patient histories and documenting information in medical records
• Assisting with specialized ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing
• Preparing patients and treatment areas for procedures
• Assisting with surgical preparation and maintaining proper sterile technique
• Monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures
• Monitoring anesthesia and recording patient vitals based on experience and credentials
• Placing IV catheters and performing blood draws based on skill level
• Collecting and processing laboratory samples
• Administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Maintaining and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment
• Providing attentive patient care throughout hospitalization and recovery
• Educating and communicating with clients regarding treatments and home-care instructions
• Maintaining clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment and surgical areas
• Working closely with the entire team to provide an exceptional patient and client experience

• Has previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience

For RVT candidates: Current North Carolina registration or eligibility for registration is preferred.

Previous ophthalmology or specialty experience is a plus, but not required. We're happy to help the right candidate develop their knowledge and skills in veterinary ophthalmology.
