You set the tone from the very first interaction, and you have the power to turn an ordinary stay into one our guests talk about long after they check out. We believe in developing our people, promoting from within, and building careers, not just filling positions.What You'll Be Doing:Greeting every guest immediately with a warm, sincere, and professional welcome that sets the tone for their entire stayCompleting the check-in and check-out process efficiently and accurately, including inputting and retrieving guest information, confirming room rates and preferences, coding electronic keys, and providing welcome packetsVerifying and processing credit cards, handling cash, balancing an assigned house bank, and accurately performing moderately complex mathematical calculations throughout the shiftAccepting and recording various forms of payment including vouchers, traveler's checks, and foreign currency at current posted ratesPosting charges to guest rooms and house accounts using our property management systemAnswering the phone promptly and professionally, retrieving and communicating guest messages, and handling requests for mail, packages, and faxesPromoting the hotel's marketing programs and loyalty offeringsFielding guest concerns and complaints with patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to finding a solutionRemaining calm, composed, and solutions-focused during high-volume periods and emergency situationsNegotiating appropriate recovery solutions for guests when something does not go as plannedMaintaining a thorough knowledge of hotel outlet hours, local attractions, and property amenitiesSupporting PBX operators and reservations agents as directed by leadershipWhat We're Looking For:A genuinely engaging and warm personality; you make people feel at ease the moment you interact with themA real passion for connecting with people from all walks of life and all parts of the worldOutstanding customer service skills and a natural instinct for anticipating what guests needA calm, resourceful approach to problem solving; when things go sideways, you find a way forwardStrong communication skills, both verbal and written, including a clear and professional phone presenceKnowledge of emergency procedures and the ability to remain composed and decisive under pressureA commitment to accuracy in financial transactions and cash handling proceduresSolid basic math skills and comfort using a calculator to perform moderately complex calculations without errorFlexibility to work varying shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidaysQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or hospitality education is a plusPrevious experience in a guest-facing customer service role is preferred; hotel front desk experience is a strong plusExperience handling cash and processing financial transactions accuratelyComfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment for the duration of a shiftBasic mathematical proficiency and comfort with a calculator for moderately complex calculationsKnowledge of emergency procedures and hotel safety protocols, or willingness to learnAbility to stand and remain active throughout the shiftFlexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidaysA professional appearance and demeanor that reflects the quality of the Marriott brandBilingual communication skills are a plus but not requiredWho Thrives Here:The Front Desk Agents who truly excel in this role are the ones who take genuine ownership of the guest experience.
