Full time | Frontier Strategies | United States Posted On 07/31/2026 Job Information Government/Military Work Experience BMET biomedical system administration City Jbsa Ft Sam Houston State/Province Texas 78234 Job Description Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician II/Systems Administrator I Brook Army Medical Center The Association for the Advancement Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards for BMETs and levels of qualifications shall be applied to this position. Independently repair, calibrate, and maintain all types of clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems of moderate complexity. Inspect, install, repair, prepare for disposition, and provide SPM of MDE. Perform DoD cyber-security. This position requires a skillset of an entry-level Systems Administrator. Entry level experience in configuring, monitoring, upgrading, and maintaining information systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. Develop and maintain less complex systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoots basic network performance and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan. Recommends software and hardware upgrades, patches, and new applications on MDE and related information systems. Provides MDE and information technology technical support and guidance to users. Builds and manages system development lifecycle (i.e., Certificate of Net worthiness, Risk Management Framework [RMF]) for MDE that require network certification and/or accreditation. Has knowledge of commonly used MDE and information technology concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical field. Duties include all items listed under BMET II , to include additionally: Possesses and applies basic and advanced knowledge for MDE and IT in two (2) or more of the following modalities: Healthcare Imaging (Radiology), Laboratory, Sterilization, Patient Monitoring, Operating Room Services, Dental, Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Scopes, Pulmonary, Anesthesia, Veterinary, and High-End Electronics, Information Technology (IT), Networks, RMF, RFID, ATO, Servers, and Systems. Evaluate, install, maintain, diagnose, repair, calibrate, and test MDE, including high risk and life support MDE. This shall include complex Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved MDE to include but not limited to integrated/networked systems and related electronics and automation/networking that requires integrating this equipment; examples include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography scanners, radiographic-fluoroscopic x-ray systems, ultrasound scanners, surgical and dermatological lasers, physiological monitoring systems, proprietary local area networks, input and output computers, computed radiography (digital imagery), tele-maintenance, tele-radiography, and telemedicine. Ensure adequacy of all equipment networking and/or LAN integration for assigned functional area to include compatibility with existing utilities and existing equipment/components, determining what modifications to utilities are necessary to ensure the equipment operates as the user intends, and overseeing selection of network hardware. Ensure that cabling such as fiber optics, cat 5, ethernets, etc., and hardware such as switches, hubs and converters are in place and are functioning and capable of interfacing with said hardware (modalities). Assists in ensuring IA compliance for all Logistics systems. Serves as assistant SA for other IM/IT systems for agreements between sections within Logistics, where MDE is integrated with IM/IT systems (i.e. Temperature Sensitive Medical Products connected to MDE). Conducts cybersecurity analysis to address and make recommendations of network vulnerabilities, inspections and testing. Collaborate with Information Management Division (IMD) to ensure HIPAA compliance and connectivity of MDE. Requirements Graduate of a military BMET Course or a higher education degree from an accredited college in BMET or Engineering with additional coursework in IT 4 years relevant experiencein the repair and maintenance of MDE and IT systems. 5 Must have DoD Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II Certification (DoDI 8570 is going to be DoDI 8140). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities In-depth understanding and ability to diagnose problems with the quality of images and signals as required by medical professionals based on the equipment, network, and medical procedure being performed. Understands the physiological parameters associated with a patient when diagnosing and troubleshooting MDE (servers/workstations) and deals effectively with patients. Applies knowledge of information theory, computer science, and systems analysis to integrated operational systems for specific and complex MDE and systems, such as the Cardio/Patient Monitoring Systems, Imaging systems and DINPACS. Knowledge of systems interface and LAN issues, especially for issues that may not be clearly defined/discussed in manufacturer literature. Considerable knowledge of the application and repair of computers and servers and how they interface with MDE. Considerable knowledge of IT standards and IMD conventions as they relate to design approaches, coordination requirements, and documentation. Considerable knowledge of established IT systems security techniques and procedures to ensure that requirements related to physical, personnel, emanations, and information security is accomplished. Considerable knowledge of IA performance management/measurement methods, tools, techniques, system security testing, and evaluation principles in order to participate in IA audits and HIPAA security assessments tools.
