Salary Range: $56,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Rockford that are seeking skilled Tool and Die Makers. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Design and build dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• Operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
• Troubleshoot and repair existing dies and tooling.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tools and dies.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols.

Recommended Qualifications

• Journeyman Tool and Die Maker certification or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in progressive die making, maintenance, and repair.
• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs).
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
• Ability to work with close tolerances and utilize precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of various metals, heat treatment processes, and tooling materials.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam)
• Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery
• Certification in a specialized skill (e.g., welding, metrology, advanced machining)
• Demonstrated ability to mentor or train junior toolmakers
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
