Inpatient Medical Coder

To support the Health Information Management team, the remote Inpatient Medical Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines while ensuring compliance with coding standards and productivity requirements. Key Responsibilities Accurately review, code, and abstract inpatient medical records following ICD-10-CM/PCS conventions Apply applicable coding standards, including AHA Coding Clinic guidance and CMS regulations Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and HIM professionals to ensure coding accuracy and appropriate reimbursement Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of inpatient coding experience using ICD-10-CM/PCS Strong knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG reimbursement methodologies Experience meeting established coding productivity and accuracy standards Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment coding proficiency assessment Completion of an AHIMA-accredited program with relevant professional credentials is preferred
