Fleet Operations Coordinator *Location:* Pontoon Beach, IL, USA
(Travel required between Pontoon Beach, IL, Edwardsville, IL, and St. Peters, MO)
*Job Type:* Contract-to-Hire (9 Months)
*Compensation:* $19-$26/hour (based on experience)
*Schedule:* Onsite | Weekend and Holiday Availability Required
*Additional Perk:* Company vehicle provided for travel between assigned locations.
*About the Opportunity* We are seeking a Fleet Operations Coordinator to support one of the largest commercial fleet programs in North America. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in fleet management, vehicle rentals, transportation, logistics, operations, or customer service who enjoy building client relationships and ensuring operational excellence. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating fleet activities, maintaining vehicle readiness, supporting customers, and working closely with vendors to ensure vehicles remain operational and efficiently managed. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing operation supporting a rapidly expanding fleet program while gaining exposure to fleet operations, client management, and logistics.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Manage day-to-day fleet operations for assigned vehicles.
* Perform detailed pre-service and post-service vehicle inspections.
* Coordinate vehicle cleaning, detailing, and refueling activities.
* Schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, and body work with third-party vendors.
* Maintain accurate records of fleet activities and service history.
* Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, drivers, and operational partners.
* Provide ongoing customer support and recommendations to improve fleet performance.
* Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure service expectations are met.
* Support reporting, documentation, and administrative tasks using Microsoft Office applications.
*Required Qualifications*
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* 1-2 years of experience in fleet management, vehicle rental operations, transportation, logistics, or related operations.
* Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
* Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Ability to stand, walk, and inspect vehicles for extended periods throughout the day.
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Logistics, or a related field.
* Experience managing commercial vehicle fleets.
* Experience working in vehicle rental operations.
* Client-facing account management or B2B customer support experience.
* Experience with fleet management or rental software platforms.
* Strong data entry and reporting capabilities.
