Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating a CNC Horizontal Boring Mill, primarily utilizing a lathe. The ideal candidate will study blueprints and drawings from engineers to plan machining operations, adjust and install equipment, and consistently maintain specifications for the machines they operate. The machinist will handle large lathes or mills daily and must be adept at reading blueprints to understand the desired outcome of the finished product.
Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Horizontal Boring Mill.
• Study blueprints and drawings to plan machining.
• Adjust and install lathe or mill equipment.
• Operate large lathe or mill each day.
• Read blueprints to understand finished product specifications.
• Maintain specifications for machine operations.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience running parts in a steady rest with high precision tolerance on a CNC Lathe or Mill.
• Ability to learn new operating methods.

Work Environment
The shop is clean and organized, featuring a variety of steel sizes and large machines. Work alongside a team of about 10 colleagues in a demanding environment with multiple jobs running concurrently.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
