Non Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible The Academic Advisor & Access Coordinator serves as a member of the Academic Advising & Access team and provides holistic, student-centered advising that supports student access, persistence, completion, transfer, and career readiness. The position assists prospective, new, continuing, adult and returning, transfer, and dual enrollment students in navigating educational pathways, making informed decisions, and progressing toward their academic and career goals. The position supports advising and student access through educational partnerships, outreach and engagement activities, and assigned departmental initiatives. In collaboration with students, faculty, staff, educational partners, and community organizations, the position helps strengthen educational pathways, connect students with appropriate resources, and support student wellness through education, referral, and resource coordination. As part of these responsibilities, the position may be assigned duties specific to advising and access programs or initiatives and may support designated educational or community partners. Specific program, partnership, and outreach assignments may change as the needs of the Academic Advising & Access department evolve. Ability to travel to assigned locations and work occasional evenings and weekends are required for this position. Duties and Responsibilities: Academic Advising Provide academic advising to students across varied educational stages and pathways, including prospective, new, continuing, adult and returning, transfer, and dual enrollment students, through individual appointments, group advising, workshops, presentations, and other service delivery methods

Apply a holistic advising approach that considers each student’s individual circumstances, experiences, strengths, needs, and goals and draws upon broad institutional knowledge to support educational success

Assist students in developing educational plans aligned with certificate, degree, transfer, workforce, and career goals while promoting informed decision-making, self-advocacy, and responsibility for educational progress

Explain college policies, procedures, academic and graduation requirements, transfer pathways, and institutional processes to help students make informed educational decisions

Utilize student information systems, degree planning tools, and other technologies to document advising interactions, monitor academic progress, identify barriers, and provide proactive support and follow-up

Support students experiencing academic or related challenges within the scope of the advising role and connect them with appropriate college and community resources, including academic support, financial resources, accessibility services, and mental health and wellness services

Maintain accurate and timely advising records and documentation in accordance with institutional policies and applicable privacy regulations

Partnerships & Outreach Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with assigned high schools, community partners, and college departments to strengthen pathways to higher education and support student access

Serve in assigned advising partnership roles, coordinating communication, advising services, outreach activities, and continuity of support for the designated student populations

Plan, coordinate, and participate in outreach and engagement activities aligned with departmental and institutional priorities, including but not limited to college access initiatives, orientations, parent and family events, workshops, presentations, and other educational or community engagement opportunities

Collaborate with educational partners to support students in navigating the transition to college by providing timely information, resources, and connections to appropriate college services

Support awareness and appropriate utilization of college-sponsored mental health, wellness, and other student resources through communication, education, referral, and assigned partnership coordination

Strategic Initiatives Contribute to the development and refinement of access strategies in response to student, community, and institutional needs

Participate in departmental planning, assessment, continuous improvement, and strategic initiatives that enhance advising services, student access, and the student experience

Coordinate or contribute to assigned departmental initiatives, areas of responsibility, special projects, and committees based on departmental and institutional needs

Collaborate across the college to support assigned initiatives, improve student experiences, streamline processes, and advance departmental and institutional goals

Communicate effectively through individual interactions, written communication, presentations, and group facilitation

Exercise sound professional judgment, recognize student needs, maintain appropriate boundaries, and make effective referrals

Manage multiple priorities, partnerships, projects, and deadlines with independence and accountability

Analyze information, solve problems, and contribute to service and process improvements

Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-trained team

Adapt to changing student, departmental, and institutional needs

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, social or behavioral sciences, human services, or related field; AND

Three (3) years of related professional experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree (i.e. AA plus 4 years related professional experience). A minimum of an Associate’s Degree is required.

Travel/Schedule Requirements Occasional travel to assigned locations is required – incumbents must hold a valid drivers license upon hire and as a condition of continued employment

Occasional work outside of traditional business hours, including evenings and weekends, is required

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, education, student affairs, or related field

Experience in higher education, academic advising, or student services

Experience working with dual enrollment, adult, transfer, first-generation, or other diverse student populations

Experience developing educational partnerships or coordinating programs, initiatives, presentations, workshops, or outreach activities

Familiarity with PeopleSoft, Canvas, or comparable student information and learning management systems

Experience serving rural or geographically dispersed communities

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish

Minimum Starting Salary: This position is at a salary grade C. The minimum of the placement range is $73,531.55. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on education and experience.
