Registered Nurse-ED Casual Per Diem

Location: Nyack, New York. Shift: Night (7 PM – 7 AM). Hourly Rate: $54.53 per hour. Job Summary The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating and providing nursing care through the nursing process. Utilizes effective communication skills with patients, significant others and members of the multidisciplinary health care team. Assumes responsibility for assessment, treatment and care of patients of all ages, from neonate to geriatric, applying an understanding of developmental, cognitive, biopsychosocial and cultural needs. Maintains clinical competence to meet defined standards of care. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Systematically provide nursing care to patients within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice. Integrate principles of patient safety into the provision of direct nursing care and medication management. Adhere to system-wide communication standards and processes. Participate in designated forums addressing patient care, education, policy, safety, and clinical outcomes. Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skill related to the area of practice. Document age‑specific competency addendums. Demonstrate customer service: positive communication with diverse cultures, acknowledging concerns, escorting customers when necessary, and responding to concerns with corrective action. Engage in performance improvement activities, maintain licensure/certification, and participate in annual competency assessment. Use resources fiscally: manage equipment and supplies, utilize charge process for supplies/equipment. Complete projects and assignments within projected time frames. Required Qualifications Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s preferred). Minimum 1 year Med/Surg experience (preferred). National certification in area of practice (preferred). On‑call required for OR, PACU, and Cath Lab. Certification requirements: BLS (Basic Life Support) – required. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required within 6 months for ED, SICU, MICU, 3 Doctors, Cath Lab, Endo, Labor & Delivery, Nursing Radiology, SDS; PACU required within 3 months. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required within 6 months for ED, Nursing Radiology, SDS; within 3 months for PACU. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required within 6 months for Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU. ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certificate – required for Infusion Center.
