Are you a strategic technology leader who is equally comfortable setting direction, advising executives, managing risk, and solving an operational problem? The City of Peachtree Corners is seeking an accomplished, hands‑on Enterprise Technology Manager to lead its information technology environment in a fast-moving smart‑city setting. This position will protect the reliability and security of core municipal systems, guide technology investment and governance, support public safety and citizen‑facing services, and help ensure emerging technologies are introduced responsibly. Working in a municipal IT environment, the Enterprise Technology Manager will balance day‑to‑day operations with long‑range planning, cybersecurity, resilience, vendor accountability, financial stewardship, and support for the City’s internationally oriented innovation ecosystem. This is an enterprise‑level assignment in a right‑sized organization where decisions move quickly and results are visible. For the right technology professional, this is an opportunity to do more than maintain systems. It is an opportunity to shape how a future‑ready city operates. Technology Portfolio - Municipal Operations Enterprise infrastructure, networks, wireless systems, and cloud platforms Microsoft technologies and virtualization environments Email, ERP, utility billing, permitting, and online services Website availability and resident‑facing technologies Public safety connectivity and system segmentation Governance and Resilience Cybersecurity strategy, standards, and controls NIST‑aligned risk management CJIS and regulatory compliance Incident response and recovery Disaster recovery and business continuity Asset inventory, configuration management, and lifecycle planning Innovation Infrastructure Curiosity Lab networks, systems, and technology platforms Pilot evaluation and governance Vendor and partner coordination Secure transition from pilot to production The next Enterprise Technology Manager will: Set the City’s Technology Direction Develop and maintain a long‑term technology roadmap that aligns projects, investments, policies, standards, staffing, and replacement needs with the City’s organizational priorities. Serve as a trusted advisor to City leadership on technology risks, operational needs, emerging trends, and strategic opportunities. Build a Formal and Sustainable Governance Model Establish practical governance processes for technology requests, project prioritization, architecture, cybersecurity, procurement, vendor management, data, system ownership, and technology standards. Governance should create clarity and consistency—not bureaucracy for its own sake. Advance Cybersecurity Maturity Establish and maintain a cybersecurity program aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Own the Citywide cyber risk register, convert assessment findings into actionable work plans, monitor progress, and communicate material risks to leadership in plain language. Protect Reliability and Operational Continuity Ensure that infrastructure, systems, applications, networks, backups, recovery capabilities, and security controls are maintained, tested, documented, and ready to support City operations. Lead incident response and recovery efforts calmly, methodically, and transparently. Manage Technology as a Business Portfolio Lead development and administration of an annual operating and capital budget of approximately $2 million, along with procurement, contract administration, licensing, asset management, configuration documentation, replacement planning, lifecycle governance, and vendor performance management. This includes oversight of the City’s third‑party managed security and IT services vendor and day‑to‑day operational direction for its dedicated onsite engineer. The City expects its investments to be deliberate, supportable, and tied to measurable needs. Create a Responsible Path from Pilot to Production Work with Curiosity Lab, City departments, vendors, and technology partners to evaluate experimental technologies, establish requirements, identify risk, and determine whether an initiative should advance, be modified, or conclude. Approved pilots must transition into stable production environments with clear ownership, support, funding, security, and lifecycle plans. Deliver Exceptional Internal Customer Service Build trusted relationships across the organization. Establish realistic expectations, communicate priorities and workloads, listen carefully, and help departments find practical technology solutions that improve efficiency and service delivery. Requirements The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, well‑rounded technology professional who understands that success in this position extends far beyond technical expertise. This individual will be comfortable moving between an executive leadership meeting, a departmental work session, a vendor negotiation, a cybersecurity briefing, an incident response, and a detailed technical review. The role favors breadth, judgment, ownership, and communication over narrow specialization. The next Enterprise Technology Manager will see the big picture without losing sight of operational details. The individual will understand when to remain hands‑on, when to establish guardrails, when to delegate, and when to personally take ownership of a problem. The successful candidate will be: Strategic but practical. Able to develop a long‑term roadmap while remaining focused on what must be accomplished today. A credible technology advisor. Willing to give leadership an honest assessment, explain alternatives, identify risks, and make a clear recommendation. Cybersecurity and risk fluent. Capable of balancing security, accessibility, operational continuity, cost, and organizational priorities. Calm under pressure. Methodical during incidents and unwilling to let urgency create confusion, speculation, or unnecessary drama. A plain‑language communicator. Able to explain technical matters to nontechnical audiences without jargon, condescension, or unnecessary complexity. Customer focused. Committed to responsive service, reliable follow‑through, and helping employees use technology successfully. Financially and commercially disciplined. Comfortable managing budgets, contracts, procurements, licenses, consultants, vendors, and total lifecycle cost. Collaborative and accountable. Able to build productive relationships while establishing expectations and holding employees, vendors, and partners responsible for results. Curious but discerning. Interested in new technology, but focused first on security, sustainability, interoperability, operational value, and the needs of the City. Self‑directed. Effective in a small‑staff environment with broad responsibilities and limited need for day‑to‑day supervision. The ideal candidate will not view the enterprise technology function as a gatekeeper that simply approves or rejects requests. The individual will work with departments to understand what they are trying to accomplish, identify responsible alternatives, and find a workable path forward whenever possible. At the same time, the candidate must have the confidence to say no when a proposal creates unacceptable risk—and the judgment to explain why. Most importantly, the next Enterprise Technology Manager will understand that technology is successful only when employees can do their jobs effectively and residents receive dependable, secure, and responsive service. Education and Experience A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible professional experience as determined by the City. At least ten years of progressively responsible information technology experience, including demonstrated leadership of IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and governance functions. Experience with enterprise network administration, Microsoft technologies, virtualization platforms, cybersecurity practices, and IT governance frameworks. Experience managing technology infrastructure and services in a small‑staff environment while balancing immediate operational demands with long‑term planning and risk management. Knowledge of technology asset management, lifecycle planning, vendor oversight, contract administration, and service reliability. Public‑sector or municipal experience is valued but not essential. Familiarity with ERP, utility billing, permitting, public safety systems, CJIS requirements, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework will be particularly valuable. Additional Information Hiring Range $120,000+ (The final salary will depend on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience). Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Short‑term and long‑term disability insurance 18 days of paid time off accrued annually, increasing by one‑half day for each year of service, 10 days credited upon hire 13 paid holidays annually City contribution equal to 12% of annual base salary into a 401(a) defined‑contribution retirement account Optional participation in a 457 deferred compensation plan where the city will match employee contributions of up to 5% of salary. City‑provided life insurance equal to three times annual salary, up to $300,000 Retirement vesting schedules and other plan provisions are governed by the applicable plan documents. The City of Peachtree Corners is an Equal Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
