Surgical Technologist

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Assists nurse with patient care. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Assists in decontamination, preparation and sterilization of instruments in sterile processing. Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.

Education and Certification Requirements: Accredited Program: Surgical Technologist (Required) BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE), BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision with a positive disposition. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of experience required. Other Information: Certified Surgical Technologist certification (CST or TS-C) is preferred.
