Washoe County offers a competitive salary range of $90,334.40 - $117,457.60 annually for this position in Reno, NV. This is a full-time opportunity with continuous openings.

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field is required, along with licensure in Nevada as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Clinical Professional Counselor.

License to practice in the area of assignment is required at the time of application and must be maintained for continued employment. A valid driver's license is also required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment.

Positions and Ideal Candidates

Various positions are available within different departments, each with specific requirements and ideal candidate profiles:

• Juvenile Services Mental Health Unit : Experience with at-risk youth, suicide, self-harm, aggression, and serious emotional disturbance. Knowledge of evidence-based and substance abuse treatment practices.
• Sheriff's Office - Mobile Outreach Safety Team (MOST) : Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, experience engaging with diverse populations, and ability to work alongside law enforcement.
• Human Services Agency - Children's Services : Bilingual Spanish skills, certification as a Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC), or similar.
• Human Services Agency: Children's Mobile Crisis Response Team : Bilingual Spanish skills, experience with youth and families in mental or behavioral health crises, and awareness of community resources.
• Human Services Agency – Housing and Homeless Services : Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, knowledge of issues facing homeless individuals, and a team player mentality.

Conditions of Employment

The Washoe County Employees Association (WCEA) Non-Supervisory Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) covers the Mental Health Counselor II positions at Human Services Agency and the Sheriff's Office. Background checks and tuberculosis tests are required for certain positions. Washoe County requires its employees to reside in Nevada or neighboring California communities.
