Bill Sr. had immigrated from Holland as a two-year-old, grown up with a hands‑on fascination for cars, and spent 13 years building vehicles at Ford's Mahwah assembly plant before striking out on his own. When New Jersey began licensing body shops in 1986, Bill Sr. adapted without missing a beat — shifting his focus entirely to used car sales and eventually relocating the business to Hamburg, NJ, where the DeBoer name became a trusted fixture in the community. In 1997, his son Bill Jr. joined the business after graduating from Penn State with a degree in Business Management and a Certificate in Automotive Technology.
