We are seeking a detail-oriented Underwriting Services Assistant I to join an established underwriting support team. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for someone interested in building a career within the insurance industry and gaining hands-on underwriting experience.

The Underwriting Services Assistant will support day-to-day underwriting activities, including processing binds, endorsements, cancellations, and other policy-related transactions. Much of the work will be completed through established work queues and a shared Outlook inbox, requiring strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage a consistent volume of work accurately.

This position offers structured, hands-on training and the opportunity to gradually earn additional authority as knowledge and proficiency develop. Prior insurance experience is helpful but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and processing support to the underwriting team.
• Complete entry-level underwriting transactions, including binds, endorsements, cancellations, and related policy activities.
• Monitor assigned work queues and complete requests according to established procedures and service expectations.
• Monitor a shared Outlook inbox and accurately triage and route incoming emails to the appropriate team members.
• Review information and documentation for accuracy and completeness before processing.
• Enter, update, and maintain policy and underwriting information within applicable systems.
• Follow established underwriting guidelines, procedures, and documentation requirements.
• Communicate professionally with internal team members and other business partners.
• Provide responsive customer service and assist with routine questions or requests.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for completed work.
• Participate in side-by-side training, coaching, and ongoing development.
• Incorporate feedback from work reviews to improve accuracy and develop greater independence.
• Take on additional responsibilities and processing authority as proficiency is demonstrated.
• Support the underwriting team with additional administrative and operational responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience within the insurance industry.
• Experience as an Underwriting Assistant, Insurance Assistant, Policy Services Representative, or similar position.
• Familiarity with insurance terminology and policy transactions such as binds, endorsements, and cancellations.
• Previous experience working in a high-volume processing, production, administrative, or customer-service environment.
• Experience managing shared email inboxes, work queues, or transaction-based assignments.

Training & Development

This position will begin with hands-on, side-by-side training. Initially, completed work will be fully reviewed to ensure accuracy and understanding of underwriting procedures. As proficiency develops, team members will have the opportunity to earn additional processing authority and work more independently.

The role provides an opportunity to build foundational underwriting knowledge and potentially grow into other positions within the organization.
