Full-Time Elementary Music Teacher


WI DPI Teacher Certification required for grades K-5. Sturgeon Bay School District is seeking a qualified teacher who possesses skills and understanding of WI Music Standards. WI Music licensure (500/1500/515/1515/2500) preferred but not required. Successful applicants will be a contributing team member with strong communication skills and develop strong collegial and parent relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assess student progress and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians.
• Lead school performances and support extracurricular music activities.
• Collaborate with staff and participate in professional development.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field
• WI Music licensure (500/1500/515/1515/2500) preferred but not required.
• Experience working with children from diverse and adapting lessons to meet various learning styles.

Pathways to Obtain Music License If You Are Not A Licensed Music Teacher

Depending on your academic background, you can secure this license through a few distinct routes:

• Traditional Prep Program : Completion of an approved Music Education Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, which triggers an institutional endorsement directly to DPI.
• Add-on Certification via Testing : If you already hold a valid Wisconsin teaching license in another subject, you can add the PK-12 Music endorsement by achieving a passing score on the required Praxis Subject Assessment for Music.
• Professional Teaching Permit : If you have a bachelor's degree in music but did not complete a teacher preparation program, you can apply for an alternative permit if you have at least five years of professional music experience and a backing district sponsor.
