Grants Management Specialist Agency National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summary NEH is an independent grant‑making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. Location Washington, DC Compensation Salary range: $61,947 – $97,430 per year (GS 9–11) Responsibilities Review applications recommended for award to ensure documentation is complete and compliant with governing authorities. Analyze application budgets for mathematical accuracy and compliance with NEH legislation, 2 CFR Part 200, and programmatic requirements; negotiate budget revisions. Prepare conditions and provisions for offer letters, awards, and notices of supplemental funding; write award‑specific clauses; enter information in the electronic grants management system. Monitor active awards by tracking timely submission of required financial and performance reports, reviewing reports, resolving issues, and processing post‑award requests for amendments, extensions, and supplements. Review assigned notices of funding opportunity. Assist NEH program and administrative staff, recipients, and applicants in clarifying and implementing governing authorities applicable to specific awards. Ensure timely close‑out of awards and processing of related deobligation actions. Qualifications GS‑9 level 1 year of specialized experience at GS‑7 level or equivalent, or a master’s degree, or 2 years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to a master’s degree, or a combination of education and experience as described in the OPM General Schedule qualification standards. Specialized experience may include activities such as reviewing grant applications, managing grant portfolios, monitoring grants, or preparing reports. GS‑11 level 1 year of specialized experience at GS‑9 level or equivalent, or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to a Ph.D., or a combination of education and experience as described in the OPM standards. Experience may include reviewing grant applications for adequacy, interpreting grants‑related policies, monitoring grantees’ compliance, and providing information to applicants and grantees.
