Accountant / Bookkeeper (Part-Time, Contract) Flexible Schedule | Consistent Client Work | Hybrid / Remote (Houston, TX) Free Weekends, LLC is seeking an experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to support a portfolio of clients with their ongoing accounting and bookkeeping needs. Our Goal Maintain clean, complete, and audit-ready books throughout the year, enabling our CPA partners to finalize taxes with confidence and ease. Daily Role You’ll serve as a trusted accounting partner for a portfolio of clients—helping them stay organized, informed, and confident in their financials. Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions for multiple clients. Review and ensure accuracy of monthly work and deliverables. Build strong, ongoing relationships with clients and their teams. Help clients improve processes using modern, cloud-based tools. Support on-boarding of new clients in a smooth, organized way. Tasks and Responsibilities Record transactions through bank and credit card feeds. Reconcile monthly bank and credit card accounts. Perform month‑end close, including journal entries, accruals, and depreciation. Prepare financial reports and provide insights to clients. Process payroll across a variety of systems. Manage accounts payable and receivable workflows. Prepare and file Texas sales and use tax returns. Communicate clearly with clients, vendors, and internal team members. Ensure deadlines are met while maintaining high‑quality work. What We’re Looking For 2‑5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience. Experience in public accounting (tax and/or audit) preferred. Strong understanding of S Corps, Partnerships, C Corps, and Sole Proprietors. Solid experience with: Month‑end close. Payroll and sales tax filings. Financial statement preparation and review. Proficiency in: QuickBooks Online & Desktop. Microsoft 365 and cloud‑based tools. Highly organized and able to manage multiple clients independently. Strong communication skills and a client‑service mindset. Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism. QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is a plus, but not required. Additional Details Part‑Time, Contract. Monday–Friday (no weekends). Hybrid / Remote (Houston, TX area preferred). Optional client onsite work (~10% preferred). Skills assessment required.
