Director of Engineering Delivery

Salary: $125,000 - 145,000 per year Requirements:

• 8+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years leading delivery across multiple engineering teams or projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated success delivering on time with distributed onshore, offshore, and contract teams across time zones.
• Experience measuring the delivery impact of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Warp, Claude Code, or Cursor.
• Technical foundation to challenge estimates, identify when deeper design reviews are needed, and understand architecture trade-offs involving cloud, APIs, and integrations.
• Experience leading delivery across multiple engineering teams during a platform rebuild while existing business operations continued.
• Ability to achieve results through influence in a structured organization, working through other leaders and their teams.
• Experience with iterative, flow-based delivery and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Clear, direct communication with executives and non-technical colleagues.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: experience in travel, payments, expense management, or B2B SaaS.
• Preferred: familiarity with connecting AI agents to products and data, including LLM APIs and Model Context Protocol.
• Preferred: experience in a startup or high-growth company.

• Own and maintain the change-the-business delivery plan with input from the VP of Delivery and in partnership with Engineering Directors, keeping priorities, assignments, capacity, and risks visible.
• Assign and balance developer capacity across change-the-business priorities, flagging demand that exceeds capacity before deadlines are affected.
• Run a predictable team-level delivery cadence within existing forums, including iteration planning, flow-based work, frequent releases, and clear ownership of commitments.
• Monitor commitments and report progress, risks, and trade-offs weekly to the VP of Delivery, engineering leadership, and Product.
• Escalate at-risk dates with trade-offs and options so leaders can make timely scope and sequencing decisions.
• Hold external vendors and contract development teams to the same delivery and quality standards as in-house teams.
• Log unplanned work pulled from the change-the-business plan, including who requested it and its impact, and report it to leadership weekly.
• Bring new requests to the VP of Delivery with their roadmap impact before work begins.
• Partner with the VP of Delivery on leadership operating rhythms, maintaining shared priorities, following through on decisions, and coordinating between forums.
• Prepare performance input for developers, obtain co-signoff from Engineering Directors, and address performance concerns with them.
• Measure AI-assisted development outcomes by team, including cycle time, throughput, and defect rate, and flag ineffective results to engineering excellence.
• Ensure blockers are surfaced and resolved promptly, escalating work that remains stalled beyond the agreed timeframe.
• Provide leadership with clear visibility into delivery commitments, owners, dates, status, capacity, and AI impact.
