Caswell Developmental Center is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Cook to prepare nutritious meals for our residents. This position involves preparing food in accordance with approved menus and portion quantities established by dietary management and supervisors. The Cook must demonstrate proficiency in coordinating cooking times for multiple food items to ensure all meal components are completed and served on schedule. Work is routinely reviewed by a supervisor to ensure compliance with food safety standards, adherence to meal schedules, and effective minimization of food waste. The working hours for the Cook position within the Dietary department are from 8:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. (every other weekend off).

Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Basic knowledge of methods of preparation and cooking of food in quantity lots utilizing various pieces of equipment such as kettles, convection ovens, convection steamers, braising pans, mixers, food processors, and deep fryers.
• Basic knowledge of the standard tools, methods, and practices utilized to maintain food safety. Basic knowledge and ability to maintain high standards of sanitation as outlined in the NC Food Code.
• Ability to properly alter food consistency to soft & bite sized, minced & moist, and pureed.
• Ability to interpret and follow standard recipes and therapeutic modifications.
• Management Preference: High school diploma or GED.

Salary Range: $31,200.00 $48,810.00
