SUMMARY: The Senior Grant Writer works as an integral part of the Administrative Team. The Senior Grant Writer will perform, but not limited to the following duties: research, grant and contract proposal writing, monitoring, evaluation, grant and contract tracking and reporting. This position may require a flexible schedule including 1st and 2nd shifts. The agency has the right to change shifts based on the needs of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Play a lead role in strategizing, coordinating and collaborating on all aspects of fundraising from government agencies and private foundations.
• Represent the Development Department at various meetings in the Director of Development’s absence/as needed
• Work on special Agency projects and initiatives.
• Identify, research and evaluate new grant and contract opportunities
• Develop, coordinate, prepare and submit large, mid-size and small grant and contract applications and attachments.
• Identify and steward prospective donors.
• Contribute to development of strategic planning to raise vital funds.
• Create and implement processes and procedures related to grant and contract management and proposal development.
• Research various information and products related to grant and contract applications.
• Preparation and submission of grant amendments to comply with funder deadlines.
• Liaison between potential grant partners and funding sources on issues related to grants.
• Development of support, leverage and agreement letters along with follow up to obtain signatures.
• Prepare and submit renewal grant and contract applications and attachments and complete or stewardship reports and budgets.
• Maintenance of a Grant Management System to track, record and maintain a schedule of proposals and reports due.
• Liaison with donors/funders on grant and contract project implementation, compliance and reporting matters.
• Organize and oversee new project implementation planning.
• Ability to climb three flights of stairs to deal with emergencies.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations by placing calls to Fire, Rescue, Police, and Medical etc.

Administrative Tasks:

• Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
• Perform program recordkeeping, filing, and the organization of vital documents.
• Provide telephone coverage for the assigned program and direct calls to other programs as needed.
• Participate in required supervisions staff meetings and trainings.
• Participate and cooperate in any investigations conducted by internal and external agencies.
• Ability to use a computer including inputting information into data systems. 

Compliance Requirements:

• Remain awake during your shift at all times.
• Attend all mandatory trainings and update all licenses and certifications.
• Adhere to program/project/department requirements and services.
• Follow all reporting guidelines by deadlines including the completion of a Confidential Incident Report. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Senior Grant Writer must perform each essential function satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge/skill and/or ability required.

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in communication, English, professional writing or similar major.
• Minimum of four years’ related experience in successful grant writing.
• Superior written and verbal communication, grammar, research and multi-tasking skills.
• Good working knowledge of computers, electronic health records and data collection.
• Requires valid driver’s license due to business-related travel.
