The Board of Regents is established in the Louisiana Constitution as the state's coordinating board for higher education, working with four management boards, 32 public degree-granting institutions, and four special-purpose institutions. The BoR sets statewide policy related to higher education; advocates for higher education systems and institutions; distributes state-provided funding in accordance with legislative actions; and administers granting programs related to the advancement of the missions of postsecondary education systems and institutions. The Board of Regents contains three programs which include the Board of Regents, the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA), and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON). Position Overview: The Board of Regents' audit program is located within the Finance and Administration Division and works with all divisions within the agency to ensure proper compliance in operations of and data received by public postsecondary institutions. This position reports directly to the Assistant Commissioner for Audit and Compliance for all audit initiatives, with support supervision from the Deputy Commissioner for Sponsored Program for endowment compliance activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential and other important duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited the following:

• Performing financial, compliance, operational, and specialized audits of postsecondary institutions to improve practices and promote effectiveness and efficiency.
• Determining institutional compliance with Board policies, federal and state laws, and other applicable rules and regulations.
• Developing and maintaining familiarity with Board program policies and staying up to date with policy changes.
• Supporting the Research and Sponsored Initiatives Division with compliance review of endowments matched through the BOR Support Fund.
• Using critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment to identify problems and determine root causes of potential issues.
• Performing audit fieldwork and preparing clear, organized workpapers to communicate procedures and results.
• Utilizing audit best practices and submitting recommendations to audit management.
• Leading entrance and exit conferences with institutional staff and supplementing with written summaries or presentations.
• Providing technical assistance to institutions as needed.
• Analyzing large data sets, collecting new data, and refining existing data sources using appropriate techniques.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred, in accounting, business, and/or a related field.
• Two years of work experience in governmental accounting, education, or auditing.
• CPA, CIA, or CISA certificate or demonstration that the applicant is in the process of obtaining one or more of these certifications, preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Availability to travel within Louisiana, including overnight travel when required.
• A valid LA driver's license at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
