Physician – Primary Care

Hannibal, Columbia, or St. Louis, MO Centerstone Full‑Time | Monday–Friday

The Primary Care Physician at Centerstone provides direct, patient‑centered medical care to individuals experiencing medical, behavioral health, and substance use concerns. This role includes medical evaluations, medication management, and coordination of care within an integrated, multidisciplinary treatment environment.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Physician contributes to staff education, program evaluation, grant activities, and public health initiatives, supporting Centerstone's mission to deliver accessible, high‑quality, whole‑person care.

This position offers a weekday schedule, strong clinical support, and the opportunity to serve communities with significant need.

Compensation, Time Off & Professional Support

• Paid Time Off: 160 hours of front‑loaded annual leave (up to 40 hours may roll over)
• Sick Leave: 40 hours front‑loaded annually

Clinical Care & Treatment

• Examine, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with medical and/or addiction‑related conditions.
• Provide direct patient care, including medical evaluations and medication management.
• Maintain an active caseload in collaboration with supervisory leadership.
• Ensure continuity of care through comprehensive follow‑up and coordination with the treatment team.
• Participate in emergency services to support individuals during emotional or medical crises.

Collaboration & Program Support

• Participate in client staffing meetings to identify needs and establish treatment goals.
• Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners, fellows, residents, and students; provide clinical guidance and backup support as needed.
• Offer medical consultation to internal teams and external entities, including the court system, as requested.

Quality, Education & Community Engagement

• Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
• Support management initiatives including data collection, program evaluation, grant applications, and service contract maintenance.
• Engage in public and community health education through presentations, educational materials, and media participation.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards and Health Information Management (HIM) policies.

Administrative & On‑Call Responsibilities

• Complete medical evaluations and medication follow‑up appointments in a timely manner.
• Participate in the physician on‑call rotation (voluntary and compensated).
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical information to patients and staff
• Proficiency with electronic health records and interpretation of complex medical documentation
• Ability to apply clinical judgment, logic, and basic mathematical principles
• Capacity to build effective relationships via in‑person, telephone, and telemedicine encounters
• Ability to work collaboratively within a group practice and multidisciplinary care team
• Comfort working with diverse patient populations
• Prior experience in a similar clinical role preferred

Education & Credentialing Requirements

• Medical degree from an accredited institution
• Active, unrestricted medical license in Missouri
• Board Certification in Family Medicine required
• Addiction Medicine certification preferred
