Clinical Nurse Residency Program - Surgical Oncology

The Clinical Nurse Resident at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidate will have graduated with their BSN in the past 12 months, passed NCLEX, and completed clinical rotation or a PSNE program at MD Anderson. Candidates must be available to work the 7:00am - 7:00pm shift, Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. P10 Surgical/Oncology is a specialized inpatient unit providing care for surgical oncology patients, including those undergoing complex cancer-related procedures. Nurses on this unit deliver pre- and post-operative care, manage pain and complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families. Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $32.70 - Midpoint $50.48 - Maximum $68.26 MD Anderson offers our nurses:
- Three 12 hour shifts per week, 1872 hours per year (minimum)

• Documents care according to established standards.
• Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
• Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
• Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Education Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing would be a plus.

Licenses/Certifications Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Licenses/Certifications Preferred: Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
