Genetic Counselor

Ability to rotate weekends and holidays may be required to support critical testing. Reviews genetic testing orders for appropriateness and partner with clinical service lines to streamline test initiation. Answers questions pertaining to the process from various clinical teams including both germline and somatic genetic test requests. Supports preauthorization workflow to ensure access to testing including request for letter of medical necessity as appropriate. Provides operational support triaging the genetic test work queues and participates in initiatives focused on workflow development. Serves as the subject matter expert supporting client services in building a trusted and supported client experience. Functions as the subject matter expert in billing and authorization processes, with demonstrated aptitude for tracking and adapting to ongoing changes in payor policies affecting genomic testing. Assists on any follow up that is required from specimens received or answers questions on best format for clinical testing. Develops standard templates for frequent inquiries. Resolves and reduces pre-testing and post-testing workflow barriers, by providing operational support, informing and supporting process improvement, and championing workflow changes to drive better access to testing. Gathers statistics on utilization management of genetic tests, clinical outcomes and operational workflows. Participates in procedure review and writing when requested. May teach, train and/or mentor new employees, students, and other healthcare professionals according to standard operating procedures, when requested. Minimum Qualifications Education: Master’s Degree in Genetics Experience: Two (2) years clinical or research experience in genetic counseling Equivalency: None Certification(s): Board eligibility or certification by American Board of Genetic Counseling Licensure(s): Licensed or eligibility for license as Genetic Counselor Preferred Qualifications Previous clinical experience or strong desire to work within laboratory support role Salary Information Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $78,659.24 to $117,988.86 Benefits Information Here, you matter.
