About the Position

Job Title: Travel RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care PCU hospital experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS & ACLS Must-Have: Minimum 1 year of current acute care PCU hospital experience BLS & ACLS Description: Join a fast-paced and challenging cardiac unit specializing in high acuity progressive and intermediate care. This unit features 30 beds with a staff of 65, comprised of RNs and PCTs. Patient ratios are typically 1:4, often in a 1:5 ratio. The unit is equipped with telemetry, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow equipment, chest tubes, foleys, pacer wires, and IV pumps. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Preferred skills include chest tube management, removal of chest tubes, removal of pacer wires, and 12 lead EKGs. Oxygen management up to BiPAP and heated high-flow is also desirable. Candidates should have experience with drips including heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, and ketamine. Typical procedures performed on this unit include: Post-cath care for right and left heart catheterizations, TAVRs, ablations, and pacemaker implantations. Thoracic surgery post-operative care, including VATs, RATs, resections, and lobectomies. Pre and post-operative care of open-heart surgical patients, including CABGs, MVRs, AVRs, and aortic dissection repairs. Vascular surgery post-operative care is also provided.
