Job Description
The Material Handler supports efficient warehouse operations by safely operating material handling equipment, accurately moving inventory, and assisting with shipping and receiving activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality, sanitation standards, and accurate inventory records in a climate-controlled, family-oriented production environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a climate-controlled production and warehouse facility with a distinct food manufacturing environment that may smell like taco seasoning. Work is performed on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position involves frequent use of pallet jacks, stand-up and sit-down forklifts, stretch wrappers, scan guns, and basic computer systems. Employees follow GMP, safety, and PPE requirements at all times while working around food ingredients and production equipment. The facility is smaller and highly team-oriented, with a focus on cleanliness, sanitation, and maintaining organized work areas throughout the shift.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Job Description
The Material Handler supports efficient warehouse operations by safely operating material handling equipment, accurately moving inventory, and assisting with shipping and receiving activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality, sanitation standards, and accurate inventory records in a climate-controlled, family-oriented production environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow all established safety procedures, quality guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) while performing all tasks.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, stretch wrappers, and other material handling tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Pick and stage customer orders accurately for outbound trucks, ensuring correct items and quantities are prepared for shipment.
- Unload inbound trucks, verify materials, and move products to appropriate warehouse locations.
- Meet all department sanitation standards by keeping work areas clean, organized, and compliant with hygiene requirements.
- Report any defective ingredients, damaged product, or malfunctioning machinery promptly to support product quality and equipment reliability.
- Accurately record warehouse bin transfers and inventory movements using scan guns and basic computer systems.
- Assist with receiving and shipping paperwork to ensure accurate documentation and traceability of materials.
- Lift and move boxes and materials, including repeated lifting of up to 50-55 lbs, as part of daily warehouse and production activities.
- Collaborate with team members to support production and warehouse goals, contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.
- Apply problem-solving skills to address routine issues in inventory, equipment, or workflow and escalate when necessary.
- Previous manufacturing experience required, with strong preference for prior food manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Experience operating manual and power pallet jacks, as well as stand-up and sit-down forklifts, with approximately 50% of the role spent on forklifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50-55 lbs on a continuous basis as part of daily material handling tasks.
- Proven communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and a strong willingness to solve problems and support team objectives.
- Basic reading and math skills to interpret labels, counts, and documentation accurately.
- Basic computer skills to use scan guns and warehouse systems for bin transfers and inventory recording.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, shipping, receiving, and documentation.
- Ability to work 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Curiosity and a strong interest in gaining new skills and learning new processes across different lines and departments.
- Previous food manufacturing experience strongly preferred, including familiarity with food safety standards.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus, but not required.
- Comfort working with warehouse production processes, including lifting boxes and general material handling.
- Ability to adapt to a skills matrix environment where cross-training and development are encouraged.
