Production Operator – Sharps Department

Location: Sumter, SC 29153 Duration: 12+ Months Number of Openings: 3 Pay Rate: $15.90/hour Shift: G Shift – 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Schedule: 3-2-2-3 rotating schedule Work Environment: Climate-controlled facility

Job Summary

BD is seeking dependable and hardworking Production Operators to support operations within the Sharps Department. The successful candidates will operate and monitor production and packaging equipment while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, safety, and efficiency.

We are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and a stable work history. Candidates should ideally have at least 1–2 years with their previous employer. Please do not submit candidates with a history of frequent job changes.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off
• G Shift
• Schedule may change based on business needs

Key Responsibilities

• Operate assigned production equipment while meeting quality, productivity, waste, and safety requirements.
• Operate packaging equipment and ensure products are properly packaged and labeled according to specifications.
• Perform required quality checks and maintain accurate production, downtime, and quality records.
• Operate equipment at acceptable quality and production levels.
• Notify technical personnel of equipment malfunctions or operational issues.
• Utilize assigned batch numbers in SAP.
• Stamp batch numbers and product information accurately on shelf and case cartons.
• Perform general housekeeping and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and Quality Systems Requirements (QSR).
• Support team activities and daily operations within the Sharps Department.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred/required based on applicable requirements.
• Industrial Maintenance or Basic Mechatronics Technology is preferred.
• Basic hand-tool knowledge and proficiency required.
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• Stable employment history preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.

Additional Requirements

• Eye exam required.
• No drug screening required.
• Steel-toe or composite-toe safety shoes required.
• Candidates may begin working while background checks are pending after all required criminal background checks have cleared.
