Contracting Controls Technician

Job Overview Trane Technologies is seeking a Field Service Engineer to work on-site at customer locations. The role focuses on commissioning, programming, and servicing HVAC/Controls equipment and directly supporting customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Commission, program, set up graphics, and establish communications links for assigned projects. Conduct end-to-end testing, troubleshoot, and service equipment on customer sites. Document point-to-point verification, validate sequences of operations, and close out job requirements. Represent the company as the direct customer contact and ensure customer satisfaction through diagnosis and repair. Coordinate with team leader and customer to understand onsite installation and repair requirements, forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize work. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Trane products and direct digital control systems. Enforce safety standards and maintain security of company assets. Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime, on weekends, and occasional overnight stays as needed. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent; typically 3–5 years of HVAC/Controls experience. Technical school or formal training preferred. Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with handheld devices (smartphone, iPad). Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major traffic violations in the past 3 years. Experience with DDC control systems is preferred. Ability to safely operate a vehicle using a seat belt, wear safety gear, lift and move up to 40lbs, and work on ladders and rooftops up to 50ft. Physical Requirements Safely operate a vehicle with seat belt. Wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness, and safety boots. Twist trunk 90degrees, squat touching floor, reach over head, and stand on concrete for up to 4hrs. Lift or move up to 10lbs regularly, up to 40lbs frequently, and occasionally more than 40lbs. Use ladder with 375lb total limit while carrying equipment ≤50lbs. Maneuver in confined areas (30"×45"). Access rooftops with extension or fixed ladders up to 15–20ft, occasionally up to 50ft. Work in variable weather, heights, electrical shock risk, and noisy equipment. Compensation Hourly Base Pay Range: $32.48 – $40.34. Compensation type is hourly, with no incentive or sales commission.
