This role focuses on performing high-quality MIG welding to support the customization and installation of vehicle-mounted aerial lifts and truck bodies. You will read and interpret blueprints and work instructions, fabricate and install components, and ensure the structural integrity and durability of specialized equipment used across multiple industries.

Responsibilities

• Weld metal components and assemblies using MIG welding techniques to meet quality and safety standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, process routings, and schematics to correctly install truck body components.
• Construct and fabricate parts according to specifications using appropriate hand tools and welding equipment.
• Identify, request, and track parts required for fabrication or repair work to maintain workflow efficiency.
• Inspect and evaluate welds to ensure they conform to specifications and overall quality requirements.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete welding and fabrication tasks.
• Maintain welding tools and equipment in proper working condition through regular inspection and basic upkeep.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic welding and fabrication issues to minimize downtime and rework.
• Support other departments or tasks as production needs require, including cross-functional assignments.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned to support production and operational goals.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a production or installation MIG welder.
• Ability to pass a MIG welding test demonstrating proficiency in overhead, vertical, and flat welding techniques.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
• Proficiency in the safe use of welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with complex assemblies.
• Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties.
• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions and document work as needed.
• Ability to recognize and mitigate potential safety hazards in a fabrication and production environment.
• Willingness to cross-train and support other areas of production as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in production or installation environments involving vehicle-mounted equipment or truck bodies.
• Background in fabrication work that involves reading complex drawings and process routings.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills in diagnosing and resolving welding and fabrication issues.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with changing production priorities.
• Interest in continuous learning and developing additional technical skills through cross-training.

Work Environment

The role involves physical activity, including lifting and manipulating up to 50 pounds, working around heavy equipment, and performing welds in overhead, vertical, and flat positions. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waco, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
