Infusion Registered Nurse

Job TitleThis position will serve to support our affiliation with Roswell Park Cancer Care. Located at the Main Hospital Campus on 1-1 Monday - Friday 7:30am-4pm Oncology/Chemo experience preferred.Plans and provides nursing interventions for individuals with cancer and cancer related health care problems; treats human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as patient care, health teaching, and health counseling; executes medical regimens prescribed by a physician or other licensed health care provider authorized by the state of New York.Position HighlightsShared Governance: Open door guiding principle gives all our nurses a voice.Professional Relationships: Strong rapport with the care team of medical assistants, secretaries, LPN, and physician group.Advancement: Strong orientation program.Work/Life: Regular schedules to balance your work/life and school calendars.ResponsibilitiesAdminister chemotherapy agents, pre-medications and non-oncology infusionsAssess lab results and vital signsObtain vascular access via Peripheral IV, A-port or PICC linePatient education on discharge/post treatmentTumor and registry entryPatient tracking for oral chemo and Mediport maintenanceMonitor and evaluate patients throughout infusionComplete treatment plansPhone triageAdheres to all the regulatory requirements and professional standards such as ONS as applicable to the specific area of nursing practicePerforms nursing assessment that includes the holistic needs of each patient with consideration of his/her physiological, psychological, social, ethnic, cultural, educational and spiritual strengths and needs. Includes the patient and family and/or support system in the planning and delivery of careEnsures that patient safety is a priority goal in the delivery of healthcareProvides direct patient care activities with other professional disciplines to ensure that the plan of nursing intervention is consistent with and integrated with the total treatment planAdministers medications, IV fluids in a safe and efficient manner following established policies and proceduresDemonstrates knowledge of and indications for dosage, route, action, side effects, contraindications, and adverse reactions of medicationProvides health education/teaching for patients and their designated significant othersConfers with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team regarding condition of patients and/or any unusual events or problems to ensure continuity of careAdheres to the RPCI Oncology, PC standard for Employee ConductOther DutiesProtects patient's privacy, confidentiality, and their rights as health care consumers.Demonstrates an understanding of and is compliant with HIPAA regulations. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
