Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Assistant Professor of Chemistry (Analytical Chemistry) The Department of Chemistry at Davidson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Analytical Chemistry beginning July 1, 2027. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field before the start of the appointment. The person hired into this position will demonstrate expertise in the development and application of novel analytical methods, particularly within mass spectrometry. Teaching introductory analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis (CHE 220, 320), introductory general chemistry (CHE 115), and advanced electives commensurate with the candidate’s training and expertise are in the purview of this position. Contributions to first-year writing courses or lab sciences for students not pursuing STEM are valued. To support a successful research program involving undergraduates, the position includes start-up funds and a personal research lab in a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary science building.
