Air Reserve Technician (ART) Munitions Supervisor

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the Air Reserve Technician (ART), section supervisor, exercising technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing munitions work. Trains reservists in the duties and responsibilities set forth herein.

Duties include:

• Based on established work schedules, determines work sequence and makes work assignments accordingly. Ensures that adequate equipment, tools, parts, materials, and assets are available. Answers questions providing reasons for departure from normal methods, procedures, and operations. Determines need for adjustment in skills as required to accomplish certain work operations.
• Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes. Implements corrective actions within designated authority to resolve work problems.
• Performs administrative responsibilities. Advises employees of performance expectations. Provides proper guidance and direction, continuous feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Holds employees responsible for satisfactory completion of work assignments, and recommends performance ratings in accordance with regulations. Recommends appropriate recognition and corrective action, as needed, in performance management.

Reserve Training: Administers the reserve training and associated programs for Sortie Support Flight ensuring consistent standards throughout the flight for traditional reservists and ARTs. Complies with all Federal, State, DOD, USAF, and local regulations concerning hazardous materials/waste munitions assets.

Qualifications include:

• In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for the WS-6600 ARMAMENT WORK FAMILY.
• Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-6600 ARMAMENT WORK FAMILY.
• Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
• The screen out element for this position is the ability to supervise as an Ordnance Equipment Mechanic Supervisor.
• Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
• Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised.
• Knowledge of non-guided munitions systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
• Knowledge in the safe operation of various light and heavy machinery and vehicles.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of ground and explosive safety.
• Knowledge of conventional munitions maintenance and storage procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical orders, manufacturers' manuals, maintenance bulletins, blueprints, schematic drawing, and other technical information, and use complex shop mathematics and handbook formulas to complete work.
• Knowledge of environmental practices and procedures. Knowledge of supply systems. Knowledge of automated and manual accounting systems.
• Knowledge of MMHE, support equipment, and armament systems. Ability to troubleshoot complete ordnance systems such as missiles and erecting and launching devices and make necessary repairs and modification, and perform operational and functional tests. Knowledge of the make-up, operation, and installation of a variety of munitions assemblies.
• Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:
• May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to-perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.

• The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
• This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position.
• The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements.
• Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in UTAs.
• The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control-Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
• This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing.
