Cornudas Mountain Foundation Executive Director

The Executive Director (ED) will serve in a key leadership role to advance the artistic legacy and public appreciation for the works of the late James Magee, Annabel Livermore, and Horace Mayfield. Reporting to the Board of Directors of the Cornudas Mountain Foundation (CMF), this individual will also liaise with other dedicated organizations. The CMF, a public nonprofit supporting organization of the El Paso Community Foundation (EPCF), is the authorized organization, empowered to undertake public-facing projects and initiatives related to the work of Magee, Livermore, and Mayfield. The Cornudas Mountain Endowments (CME) is a private nonprofit Trust that owns the financial assets and intellectual property (including art) of the artists to be allocated to the CMF for the advancement of its mission. While the ED will work with stakeholders of all three organizations (CMF, CME, EPCF), their time will be dedicated solely to work within the scope of the CMF's mission, i.e., the works and legacy of Magee, Livermore, and Mayfield.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Project Management: Manages CMF efforts, from initial conception to public-facing completion, on initiatives to advance the artistic legacy of James Magee, Annabel Livermore, and Horace Mayfield (art shows, documentaries, publications, etc.). Supervises storage, preservation, and public access to the art of the above artists.

Education and Community Outreach: Designs, implements, and delivers education programs for the public. Arranges tours of key properties (The Hill, The Shop, Museo Livermore). Assists in the recruitment, training, and retention of CMF volunteers. Conducts program and tour evaluations for iterative improvement.

Fundraising and Fiscal Oversight: Works with CMF Chairman to spearhead fundraising campaigns. Identifies grants and writes and submits grant proposal to external funding sources. Facilitates project proposals from CMF to CME for financial and asset disbursements. Prepares and delivers quarterly budget reports to CMF Officers and CME Trustees.

Governance and Compliance Oversight: Ensures that both the CMF (as a Public Nonprofit Supporting Organization of the EPCF) and CME (as a Private Nonprofit) meet all governmental requirements to maintain nonprofit status. Liaises with key stakeholders (CMF, CME, EPCF). Attends meetings and travels to represent the CMF and CME.

Facilities and Equipment Maintenance: Maintains facilities and equipment essential to the functioning and upkeep of key properties and assets. Works well with employees (Juan Munoz) and contractors of the CMF at these properties.

Compensation:

The CMF is committed to offering a compensation package that recognizes the responsibility and impact of this role while remaining transparent and equitable for candidates.

Role Category: This position is offered as a full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) 1-year probationary contract. Renewal of the contract, or conversation to permanent employment status, to be determined after 1 year of satisfactory performance.

Salary: $64,000-$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Healthcare Benefits: Employer-sponsored health insurance, covering 70% of the employee-only premium. Employee may elect to add dependent coverage at their own cost.

Paid Time Off: 15 days of PTO, including vacation, sick leave, and personal time. PTO begins accruing immediately upon hire. Paid holidays in accordance with the CMF holiday schedule.

Flexible Work Schedule: The CMF supports a flexible weekly schedule that allows the employee to design their hours within the framework of CMF needs. Remote work is permitted for administrative tasks, writing, and planning. On-site work is required for public programming, tours, and facility coordination. Some weekend and evening work will be required.

Retirement Plan: N/A during probationary contract. Renegotiable after 1 year of satisfactory performance.

Required Qualifications:

Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in art, cultural, or nonprofit management.

History of working in the arts (preferably in management or administration)

Bilingual (English and Spanish).

Must be based in, or willing to relocate to, the El Paso area. Willing to travel within the contiguous United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity and appreciation for the work of James Magee (and Annabel Livermore and Horace Mayfield).

Financial management experience (e.g., grants, fundraising, budgets).

Experience with nonprofit compliance and governance.

Experience with volunteer-based organizations.
