Youth Employment Program (YEP) Coordinator

Position Summary Under the direction and supervision of the City Administration or designated department, the YEP Coordinator will be accountable for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of assigned temporary seasonal Youth workers, in compliance with the Workforce Investment Board (WIB) guidelines. This is an experienced clerical position that performs general administrative support work in compliance with WIB and the specific needs of the office. Employment Details Part‑time, rank‑and‑file, grant‑funded position. FLSA: Non‑Exempt. The normal work schedule will fluctuate depending on program needs, with an average of twenty‑five (25) hours per week. Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate all aspects of assigned temporary seasonal Youth workers, in compliance with WIB guidelines. Serve as liaison between the City and the WIB, ensuring compliance and reporting with regulations and funding. Prepare budgets and reports. Maintain written records and other correspondence. Attend meetings and prepare requisitions for necessary supplies and inventory as required by program activities. Recruit, schedule, train, and monitor hours and timesheets for workers. Perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent; Associate degree highly preferred. Two (2) years of customer service and clerical experience, preferably with a social service agency. Spanish speaking preferred. Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate/Training required. Valid State of California Class C Driver’s License. Ability to operate a PC and related office software. Flexible schedule; able to work weekends. Experience working with youth from culturally diverse and socio‑economic backgrounds. Knowledge of Youth Employment Job Programs objectives, methods, techniques, and WIB policies. Excellent customer service skills, including telephone and in‑person etiquette. Strong records‑keeping and filing practices. Leadership ability; establishes effective working relationships with employees, participants and the general public. Energetic team player and self‑starter. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to sit and frequently uses hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally stands and walks. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The employee works in indoor conditions and near video displays.
