About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter to join their established team in East London . This position involves assessing and pricing commercial insurance risks, making critical decisions on policy acceptance, and developing profitable underwriting strategies. You will work closely with brokers and agents to understand business exposures and offer tailored insurance solutions that meet client needs while adhering to company guidelines. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and underwrite commercial insurance applications, including property, casualty, and specialty lines. Analyze financial statements, risk assessments, and other pertinent data to determine appropriate coverage and pricing. Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents to foster business growth. Set underwriting guidelines and authority levels, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends or emerging risks within the commercial insurance sector. Provide technical expertise and guidance to support staff and less experienced underwriters. Requirements Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial lines insurance underwriting. In-depth knowledge of various commercial insurance products and their associated risks. Strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills. Excellent understanding of underwriting principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office applications.
