Position Overview:

CAFCO Group seeks an Assistant Project Officer Level I to support school construction management projects on behalf of the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA). Under direct supervision of a Project Officer, the successful candidate will apply project management principles while learning SCA practices in the delivery of capital construction projects across New York City public schools.

Required Qualifications:

· Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Services, or a related field
· Valid New York State driver's license required
· Working knowledge of personal computers and standard software programs
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment under direct supervision
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

· Under direct supervision of a Project Officer, apply project management related principles while learning SCA practices and procedures
· Assist in preparing activity schedules and reviewing consultant proposals, including scope of work, staffing charts, labor cost charts, and cost estimates, checking for inconsistencies and errors
· Maintain management information systems to provide data for the planning and control of project development
· Assist in the process of investigation and resolution of design and construction issues
· Review design documents, change orders, punch lists, payment requisitions, and contracts
· Gather information to be used in job status reports
· Visit various job sites as required in the performance of assigned duties
· Assist in ensuring quality and high standards of contract performance and compliance in both design and construction
· Perform other related tasks as assigned
