Our employees appreciate that their contributions make a direct impact on the success of our business as well as their own personal and professional growth.General Function: The Credit Analyst I is responsible for conducting credit analysis for less complex credits and assisting on complex credits in the Ag/Commercial Department. Position consists of gathering, analyzing and interpreting credit information for existing and prospective customers in order to assess credit quality and to minimize risk and potential loss. The focus of this role will be agricultural credits, but the candidate will be expected to look at some commercial credits from time to time as the need arises.Core CompetenciesAttention to DetailAdministrative DutiesAnalytical and Critical ThinkingStrong Communication SkillsTime ManagementReporting Relations:Accountable and Reports to: Senior Credit OfficerPositions that Report to you: NonePrimary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAnalyze, evaluate and assess financial statements and other related data/information including projections, sensitivity analysis, cash flow, collateral, loan relationships, problem credits, etc. to determine credit worthiness per loan policy.Assist in obtaining information from customers and preparing loan presentations to lender and/or assist with presentation to loan committee.Identify risks and make recommendations to lenders regarding findings and working with customers, issues, data, etc.Evaluate and monitor ag sector, livestock and commodity market trends, economic risks, and other related factors to make recommendations to lender and/or loan committee including ways to improve risk management processesPrepare and present basic credit write-ups and assist in complex credits. This will include a summary of credit risks, identification of loan policy exceptions, proposed improvements to loan structure, and assessment of the loan rating.Assist in imaging and maintaining the bank's tickler (document collection) system.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker CharacteristicsCommitment to the Midwest Heritage mission and willingness to promote the values of the organization.Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Proficient computer skills are required. Microsoft Office (Outlook, Power Point, Excel and Word.)Good verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and interact with people in a friendly, professional manner.Strong attention to detail including the ability to review forms for accuracy and completeness.Education and ExperienceMinimum Education: 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Ag Business, Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.Minimum Background: Demonstrated general knowledge of farming and farm operations including row cropping and cattle is required.Experience with Abrigo Banking Software is a plus.Preferred: Formal financial analysis/credit administration training.Physical RequirementsThis position is classified sedentary/light and requires the ability to sit for long periods of time.Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.Must be able to perform the following physical activities: sitting for long periods, talking (in person and by telephone), hearing, and repetitive motions.Working ConditionsThe duties of this position are normally performed in a general office setting. This is a fast-paced work environment.There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day.Equipment Used to Perform Job: Computer (PC with Microsoft Office programs), telephone, calculator, telephone, copier, fax, and printer.Contacts: This position works with Midwest Heritage employees, bank customers, Hy-Vee employees, vendors and outside agents doing direct business with Midwest Heritage.Confidentiality: This position has the responsibility to protect the privacy and confidentiality of customers, employees and bank/insurance/financial information at all times.
