RISE Program Specialist (part time)

Job Description AmeriCorps members titled “RISE Program Specialists” facilitate a skill-based curriculum to adjudicated youth, ages 12-18, focusing on educational skill development. They work in group settings with youth attending in‑person or virtually. Members may also work individually on a youth’s needs. Additional support is provided up to 6 months after curriculum completion. Location In‑Office only. 1410 Wall St Suite 100, Bellevue, NE 68005. Travel may be required at times. Work Schedule Part‑time. Must complete 900 service hours in one year (Aug 1, 2026 – Jul 31, 2027). Hours vary. Compensation & Benefits Living Stipend: $1,485 monthly ($17,820 annually) Segal Education Award: $3,697.50 upon completion of the service term. Student Loan Forbearance and Interest Pay: Eligibility for loan forbearance and interest payment during the service term. Training in key areas, Professional Development, Alumni Network. Examples of Work Teach youth educational‑based skills—goal setting, motivation, organization, study skills, test‑taking strategies—with a pre‑written curriculum. Host in‑person groups at schools, probation offices, or community sites. Collect and submit school attendance variables to satisfy grant‑defined performance measures. Attend AmeriCorps National Service events and Nebraska Probation training sessions. Engage in additional training throughout the service year, including juvenile justice or education conferences and webinars. Requirements & Qualifications Minimum: 48 hours of college coursework in social sciences, criminal justice, education, or a related field (or substitute work experience). Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, criminal justice, education, or a related field. Ability to speak Spanish desired but not required. U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Willingness to submit to a criminal background check including FBI fingerprinting, national record check, National Sex Offender Public Website, and state criminal background check. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge: Proficiency in reading and writing English. Basic computer functions. Accurate record‑keeping practices. Commitment to dependably serve up to 20 hours per week. Strong work ethic and passion for volunteerism. Skills: Effective verbal and written communication with AmeriCorps members, Nebraska State Probation staff, school officials, and community stakeholders.
