Intern - Research - Medicinal Chemistry/ Structural Biology & Chemistry - AI

Gilead Sciences seeks an intern to support medicinal chemistry and structural biology research through computational work. The role involves performing in-silico experiments, analyzing molecular data, and presenting findings during a 10-12 week summer internship in Foster City, California.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-silico computational experiments supporting medicinal chemistry research activities
• Collect, prepare, and analyze structural, bioactivity, and analytical datasets using available software
• Generate data analysis reports with actionable insights and develop tools as needed
• Participate in departmental group meetings and scientific discussions
• Deliver final presentation summarizing internship project outcomes and findings

Requirements

• Currently enrolled full-time in Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program at accredited U.S. university
• Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA; independent U.S. work authorization required
• Commitment to 10-12 consecutive weeks between May and August; able to work on-site (hybrid)
• Preferred: degree in Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science
• Hands-on experience with Python, machine learning, statistical modeling, or generative AI
• Organic chemistry coursework and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools highly desirable
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and organizational skills

Compensation: $20.00 - $55.00 hourly
